My name is Borong (Steven) Zhang, a rising sophomore from BASIS Mesa in Mesa, Arizona. Math, physics, and micro- and macroeconomics are my primary interest, and I’ve competed both locally and nationally in these areas. I founded and captained my school’s regional first-year champion Science Olympiad team, and personally placed first in five of my six events. Along with three other students, I placed first in the Arizona Economics Challenge and made the top six in the national competition. As for mathematics, I’m an active participant in our MathCounts team and placed fourth at the regional competitions this year. In my free time, I enjoy the violin and badminton.
I decided to join Aerovate because I’m always looking for ways to give back to my community through education. This program provides the perfect opportunity to help students in need to achieve the same success in subjects they’re interested in.

My name is Ximo (Frank) Liu, a rising sophomore from BASIS Mesa in Mesa, Arizona. I have plenty of experience in STEM at both the state- and nation-wide level. At school, I’m an active participant of our Science Olympiad team, which medalled first in three events and placed first in the regional competition. I also took the Economics Challenge in the David Ricardo division with three other teammates, placing first in the state and top six in the nation. My interest in mathematics also extends to the individual level, having competed in MathCounts multiple times.
I’m joining Aerovate because I want to see other students excel in the same way in subjects they’re interested in. By tutoring those in need, I hope I can provide guidance for difficult topics and instill enthusiasm towards learning.
