Ohio

Vincent Chen

Hunting Valley Chapter President

I’m Vincent, a rising senior at University School in Hunting Valley, Ohio. I’ve had an interest in STEM, especially math, chemistry, and computer science, for most of my life, and hope to major in one of these areas. I’m an active participant of my school’s robotics team and a founder of its chess club, both of which have been recognized in numerous competitions. At a state-wide and national level, I’ve also received both the Governor’s award for system software and a STEM Entrepreneurship award at State Science Day, placed second in the software category at my district’s science day, and achieved fifth at the Ohio Statewide Chess Tournament. In addition to the sciences and math, I’m also a captain of my school’s competitive writing team, having won a gold key for one of my short stories and third place at a state-wide creative writing competition. Outside of school, I like to write short stories, tutor chess, and play video games.

I joined Aerovate to help students that have a diverse set of interests like me to pursue their passion for learning. As a member of the Anderson Scholar, Strnad Fellowship, and Davy Fellows - which represent my three interests of science, CS, and writing respectively - I hope to engage in all three and provide resources and education that might not be readily available to them.

Megen Chen

Shaker Heights Chapter President

Hi! I’m Megan Chen, a rising senior from Hathaway Brown School in Shaker Heights, Ohio. My primary interest is in science, especially chemistry and biology. I’m currently assigned to a biomedical lab at Case Western University, where we research gene expression through a group of transcription factors called KLFs. At school, I co-founded the Operation Smile club, which works in tandem with the international organization to provide free surgical care to those in need. In my free time, I enjoy reading, running, and practicing the violin.

I’m excited to join Aerovate for the opportunity to help others develop their interest and understanding in math and science. By giving back to my community through education, my peers and I can ensure that the next generation of students in need will receive the quality of education they deserve.
